Procession Permission Application


Terms & Conditions

  • Applicants should submit the application at least 07 days before the mentioned date of the procession / walk.
  • This permission is being given only up to the Brihanmumbai boundary under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Police, Brihanmumbai.
  • It will be the responsibility of the organizers to start the procession on the given route and finish it on time.
  • It should not linger in the path after the procession / walk.
  • During the procession / march the matter prohibited under Section 37 (1) (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act should be observed.
  • Participants in the procession / march should not make any kind of offensive or emotionally provocative announcements or display placards that would hurt the feelings of others throughout the procession / march.
  • Do not make obscene gestures during the procession / walk or do anything that will offend pedestrians or motorists.
  • In order not to obstruct the traffic, the procession / walk should be taken to one side of the road and at least ten volunteers should be kept for traffic regulation and care should be taken to avoid traffic jams.
  • The procession / walk should not be taken from the sidewalk, nor should the procession / walk stop in the middle of the road, sit or stop on the sidewalk.
  • Weapons or weapons during the procession / march period, e.g. Swords, sticks, etc. Do not keep close.
  • The use of horse-drawn carriages / bullock carts and other animals in the procession / walk is strictly forbidden.
  • No explosives, no firecrackers should be used in the procession / march.
  • Necessary permits related to other department before starting the procession / walk, e.g. Municipal permission, etc. The applicant should get reciprocity from the concerned.
  • All the instructions and orders given by the police on duty should be followed by the people participating in the procession / march as the police have the right to give instructions as per Section 68 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
  • The vehicle used for the procession / march is in good condition, the driver has the proper license. The driver has not consumed drugs and will not do so, the driver will stay with the vehicle full time, etc. It is the responsibility of all the organizers to ensure and fulfil the matters.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that no person, children or children are allowed to sit on the front seat, bonnet, roof, bumper of the vehicle used for procession / march and no one can hang on the side footrest, more than the capacity of the vehicle.
  • No flammable substances should be kept in the vehicles used for the procession / march.
  • If a court case arises during the procession / march, this office will not be the respondent.
  • In the event of an accident during the procession / walk, the entire responsibility rests with the organizers.
  • It should be noted that under Section 37 (3) of the Mumbai Police Act, the police have the power to revoke the procession license at any time in view of the prevailing law and order situation.
