YELLOWGATE POLICE STATION

The city of Greater Bombay has a total of 114 kms of coastline and as per SOP of Central Government, Yellowgate police station is the certified authority to register every Cognizable offence occurred in the sea till the International Sea Border ( from 12 nautical miles to 300 nautical miles ).

East Mumbai's adjacent sea coast i.e. 24 kilometer portion of Colaba to Vashi Bay is a patrolling area of Yellowgate Police Station. ONGC's deserted plant, Fishing Business and passenger transport via sea (from Bhaucha Dhakka to Mora uran, from Alibaug and Gate way of India to Elephanta and Uran) comes under the jurisdiction of Yellowgate Police Station.

As per the Gov. of Maharashtra Gazette no. 1058/home/95916-6 dated 17 October 1959 Yellowgate police station has been established for the purpose of effective sea patrolling at Arabian Sea and to collect secret information to prevent Anti national activities.

As per the Government orders every respective Police station in the coastal belt of Brihan Mumbai City should take cognizance of all the matters occurred till 12 Nautical Miles from coastline (12 Nautical Miles from ebbtide level) and Yellowgate Police station will take cognizance to the matters occurred within 12 Nautical miles to 300 Nautical miles (including ONGC installation). As per the SOP of central Government's Sagari Suraksha 2005, it is about the Jurisdiction of Yellow gate police station is from Coastline of Gujarat state to Kanyakumari, as it is international maritime boundary, cognizance to all the matters occurred within this jurisdiction should be taken by Yellowgate police station.
